A scholar came to the monk and explained, “I have spent a lifetime studying Buddhism and it has not helped me much. What am I missing? What is it I need to understand?”

To prepare the scholar for her answer, the monk sat silent a while. Then she said, “breathe in an easy and relaxed way and then study what causes you to lose that ease. Everything you really need to know about Buddhism will be found in that investigation.”

~ From the essay titled “Breathing” within my beautiful little treasure of a book by Gil Fronsdale “A Monastery Within“. I carry it around with me like a jewel. Check it out HERE.
