Wedged between two giant weeks of crazy was today, an easy restful day where I was mostly silent.

I walked through the zoo on my way to nowhere.  The cats, big ones, walked in a way that I found so beautiful, each step so silent and effortless.  I tried to mimic unsuccessfully.

I thought about their silence the rest of the day and thought about a small essay I wrote a while ago;

God is the Friend of silence.

I’ve tried a million things to make my life work. Lots of talking early on. Lots of silence once I got some base awareness of what really serves me most.

Without a doubt, noble silence is the medicine for our time and the purest path to all the answers I seek.

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.” ~ Mother Teresa
